Re: Video chip Vicky capability question

VGA is pretty simplistic indeed. But you would not necessarily have to update the entire screen on each draw. So you would not need to push all pixels every time. I doubt even old pc's were fast enough for that. Many programmers of the time had good tricks to know exactly which part of the screen th...

Video chip Vicky capability question

I looked over the specs of Vicky and the look quite impressive. Certainly in line with was available in the old consoles and home computers but better. I was thinking that it might be possible to port over some dos era game code. But the CGA, EGA en VGA cards of the time did not have fancy sprite mo...

Re: Greetings from the Bleeding Edge

Hi PJW

Are you writing the basic from scratch or are you basing it on some preexisting basic code base?

Re: Foenix IDE

Just keep the feature requests coming! I will try to add as many as possible. Nice to hear so much work is being done on the software side to. So here is my feature request: Add support for the c-compiler from the wdctools There is a lot of existing c-code out there one might port to this platform....

Re: Q about rev C early adopter system

Maybe port some sierra games? They used interpreters and there are open source versions. Should be doable.... A port of SCUMM VM would bring quite a bit of content to the system right away, that's for sure. True but I was thinking a little earlier myself, namely the agi (nagi) engine http://www.agi...

Re: Q about rev C early adopter system

I think it is "expensive", but as I said before not overly so. I can afford such a thing but that might not be true of everybody. The Ultimate 64 (https://ultimate64.com/Ultimate-64) is about 240 us dollar The mega65 will be at least that. And that is with far bigger audiences. I would prefer the fo...

Re: Q about rev C early adopter system

My trigger finger's itching to get one. My question is how likely is it to remain comparable to the final system? Will we have access to documentation etc? I already pulled the trigger. Both to support the project and in hopes of creating something for it. I doubt everything will be polished when I...

Re: General Comments

So... The CX16 which David was very clear about that it should not have and fpga's is getting more and more fpga.... Which other system that actually exists has that to???? Oh I know, the foenix! :D . I think that by the time they are done the price difference with the foenix will be close to zero. ...

Re: General Comments

It is just pure pleasure!
I'm from the era of floppy drives and I for one do not miss the unreliable pieces of doodoo one bit... I can always listen to the floppotron on youtube. So I have decided not to have a floppy on mine and stick to sdcards  Leaving all the floppy pleasure to others.
