Is the Kernel for the FMX and the U different? Where to find the current version?

Post by cydo » Fri Apr 16, 2021 3:39 pm

Is there a separate Kernel for the FMX and the U?

The Foenix IDE runs on 0.1.0-1011+alpha (2020-12-31) but my newly arrived (hooray! pictures will follow) c256 foenix u+ is equipped with a
0.3.0-alpha+1371 (2021-03-13) kernel.

I can't find that kernel on github anywhere in order to update the IDE or to recompile my test.pgx file (which just clears the screen
and writes out a small hello world text ) - it runs in the ide but not on the U+ hardware.

Any hints welcome, thanks.
Dennis

Update: well, seems my sdcard wasn't properly formatted (should be 512B allocation blocks, windows decided to use 4k). Reformatted with 512B ... and now it works! ;-)
Still the question where to find the newest kernel source ;-)

Hey!
The official release of the Kernel of the U/U+ has not been posted on github yet. There are variations between FMX/U and U+, so I @PJW has been adding more stuff in there lately, so I guess he should be the one to answer when he plans on posting the official release on github.

Yes, the SDCard needs to be a classic card (No HD version or else), partitioned for less than 2G and with sector of 512Bytes.

Are you Discord?
